SUMMARY:Cohort #PA-060622: The Practical Application of the Forensic Experiential Trauma Interview (Online)
DESCRIPTION:Certified FETI’s Practical Application of the Forensic Experiential Trauma Interview Course provides attendees with 35 hours of instruction within a 10-day cohort that includes five interactive classroom experiences\, participation as an interviewer and participant in five interviews each\, online independent learning\, facilitated review of conducted interviews and documentation practice. \nThroughout the course\, each attendee will continue to develop and practice the knowledge\, skills\, and abilities obtained from one of the prerequisite courses; Introduction to FETI\, FETI Methodology or Accelerated FETI. \nThis course does not certify an attendee as a practitioner (CFP-B\, CFP-I or CFP-A) of the  FETI® Methodology but is recommended as a course to complete prior to attempting any level of certification. \n  \nWHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF PARTICIPATING IN THE PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF FETI COURSE? \n\nDuring the PA FETI course you will have the opportunity to utilize the FETI Methodology in the role of interviewer during five separate\, recorded interviews. This allows you to take the information from a FETI learning course for a “test drive” in a training environment that was developed to provide you with opportunities to hear feedback during the classroom sessions from Advanced FETI Instructors about the interview you\, and others attending the course\, conducted.\nAll of the interviews conducted during this course are recorded to enhance learning. Not only do you have the unique opportunity to review all of your interviews during the independent learning sections of the course\, you are also able to watch other attendees interviews allowing you to see the variety of methods\, questions and cues used by other professionals who employ the FETI Methodology. Our instructors work with numerous people each year and have routinely found the ability to watch back an interview to be one of the best ways to identify the knowledge\, skills and abilities of an interviewer. The Practical Application of FETI course is the only instruction available that provides you with this unique\, instructor-facilitated\, opportunity. All recordings are only accessible to attendees during the 10-day cohort and are deleted at the end of the instruction.\nDuring the Practical Application of FETI course you are interviewed by a CFP-A (Advanced) FETI Interviewer with a Personal Experience Interview (PEI) designation. The PEI allows you to sit on the other side of the interview and experience the cues\, questions and prompts of the FETI Methodology for yourself from a highly skilled advanced FETI Practitioner. This opportunity is consistently identified as the highlight for many attendees of the course. In the words of one of our attendees\, “It made the whole FETI methodology make sense.”\nAll of your interview participants share real\, personal experiences. No role play! Our faculty is made up of professionals who have attended countless interviewing courses over the course of their careers and always were frustrated with the use of scenarios during instruction on interviewing. The PA FETI Course allows you to utilize the FETI Methodology with a participant who is sharing a real experience. Your participant isn’t focused on remembering a fictitious dialogue\, allowing the interview session to more accurately reflect how you would utilize the FETI Methodology in your professional role.\nAll of the interview participants during this course are attendees of the cohort. This is allows you an important opportunity to experience being interviewed by someone learning how to use the FETI Methodology five separate times. Too often\, people learning how to use an interview methodology are not also provided with opportunities to experience what it feels like to be on the other side of an interview. Not only will this help to increase your awareness of the cues\, questions and prompts of the FETI Methodology\, you will also be able to experience the importance of genuine empathy.\nYou will leave the PA FETI Course with a great understanding of how to conduct a virtual interview! After many online cohorts we have come to realize the opportunities for learning the FETI Methodology are expanded in a wonderful way in the virtual training environment. Not only are we now able to provide attendees with a way to watch back all of their interviews (something we always wanted to do during our live trainings)\, but each person leaves the training having multiple opportunities to test out and increase their online interviewing capabilities. Our faculty conducts hundreds of online interviews each year and they share their lessons learned with each PA FETI cohort.\n\n \n  \nHOW MUCH TIME DOES IT TAKE TO COMPLETE THE ENTIRE COURSE? \n35 Hours \n\nLive Classroom Instruction: 17 hours (5 sessions of 3 hours each and 1 session of 2 hours)\nLive Interview Sessions: 8 hours (4 sessions of 2 hours each)\nIndependent Review of Interviews and Course Submissions: Estimated 10 hours minimum\n\nThe Practical Application of FETI course takes place over ten consecutive days. However\, you will not be attending live instruction or independently interacting with course materials for all of those ten days (no required submissions or live sessions on the Saturday and Sunday of the course). Some attendees will choose to review more interviews than is required by the course in order to enhance their learning. Other attendees will complete the minimum requirements. You have flexibility outside of the required submissions and live sessions to do what works best for you as a learner and for the time you have available. \nOver the ten days you are required to be present for 5 classroom sessions (17 total live classroom hours) and 4 interview sessions (8 total live hours) for a total of 25 hours you will need to be available online at a specific time. In addition\, you will be completing answers to questions within the Certified FETI online Practical Application of FETI Course. In order to complete the answers you will often be required to watch interviews you conducted or interviews where you were the participant. Other than the interviews conducted on day 1 of the course (one 10-minute interview and one 15-minute interview) each interview you conduct will last for a minimum of 30 minutes. As such\, when reviewing these interviews for a required online submission we recommend planning to set aside two hours to allow for the review (30 minutes as the Interviewer and 30 minutes as the participant) and answer of questions. We estimate it takes a minimum of ten hours to complete the non-live course requirements that are explained in more detail below. \n  \nWHAT TO EXPECT EACH DAY \n  \nPre-Course Requirements:  \nCompletion of Introduction to FETI Course\, FETI Methodology Course or Accelerated FETI Course \nCompletion of the Practical Application of FETI Pre-Course Evaluation \nCompletion of the Practical Application of FETI Pre-Course Questionnaire \nCompletion of the “Helpful Information Before You Begin” Section of the online Practical Application of FETI Course \n  \nDay 1:    5 Total Hours (Required Live Classroom Sessions) \nLive Interaction with Instructors and other Attendees \n\nLive Classroom session #1 (3 hours) starting at 9:00 am PST / 10:00 MST / 11:00 am CST / 12:00 pm EST\nLive Interview session #1 (2 hours) starting at 1:00 pm PST / 2:00 pm MST / 3:00 pm CST / 4:00 pm EST\n\n  \nDay 2:   Estimated 2 Hours (Required Online Submission by 5:00 pm PST / 6:00 pm MST / 7:00 pm CST / 8:00 pm EST) \nIndependent Review of Interviews Conducted on Day 1 and Completion of Questions \n\nIndependent review of the interviews you participated in on day 1 (4 total; 2 as an interviewer and 2 as a participant).\nIndependent completion of questions about your interviews by 5:00 pm PST. SUMMARY:Cohort #PA-022822: The Practical Application of the Forensic Experiential Trauma Interview (Online)
DESCRIPTION:Certified FETI’s Practical Application of the Forensic Experiential Trauma Interview Course provides attendees with 35 hours of instruction within a 10-day cohort that includes five interactive classroom experiences\, participation as an interviewer and participant in six interviews each\, online independent learning\, a Personal Experience Interview conducted by an Advanced FETI Practitioner\, facilitated review of conducted interviews and documentation practice. \nThroughout the course\, each student will continue to develop and practice the knowledge\, skills\, and abilities obtained from the prerequisite course\, Introduction to FETI. \nThis course does not certify an attendee in FETI® but does fulfill a requirement for Basic-level certification in FETI®. \n  \nWHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF PARTICIPATING IN THE PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF FETI COURSE? \n\nDuring the PA FETI course you will have the opportunity to utilize the FETI Methodology in the role of interviewer during five separate interviews. This allows you to take the information you learned during the Introduction to FETI course for a “test drive” in a training environment that was developed to provide you with opportunities to hear feedback during the classroom sessions from Advanced FETI Instructors about the interview you\, and others attending the course\, conducted.\nAll of the interviews conducted during this course are recorded to enhance learning. Not only do you have the unique opportunity to review all of your interviews during the independent learning sections of the course\, you are also able to watch other attendees interviews allowing you to see the variety of methods\, questions and cues used by other professionals who employ the FETI Methodology. Our instructors work with hundreds of people each year and have routinely found the ability to watch back an interview to be one of the best ways to identify the knowledge\, skills and abilities of an interviewer. Your participant isn’t focused on remembering a false dialogue which allows the interview session practice to accurately reflect how you would utilize the FETI Methodology in your real professional role.\nAll of the interview participants during this course are attendees of the cohort. This is allows you an important opportunity to experience being interviewed by someone learning how to use the FETI Methodology five separate times. Too often\, people learning how to use an interview methodology are not also provided with opportunities to experience what it feels like to be on the other side of an interview. Not only will this help to increase your awareness of the cues\, questions and prompts of the FETI Methodology\, you will also be able to experience the importance of genuine empathy.\nAfter completing the 10-day cohort you receive an individual evaluation on the last interview you conducted during the course. This personalized feedback identifies any violations of the Never Again 10 and includes each question\, cue or prompt you utilized during your interview with notations for whether they were a good example of the FETI Methodology or could be removed to be in better accordance with the methodology. Your evaluator may also provide alternative options you could have utilized depending on the information being shared by the interview participant and assesses whether your demonstration of genuine empathy\, maintaining the role of interviewer and the appropriateness of your opening and closing for the FETI Methodology. Additionally\, information is also included from questions you answered during the Introduction to FETI Course so you are able to reflect on your answers and how they may\, or may not\, have changed since completing the Practical Application of FETI Course.\nYou will leave the PA FETI Course with a great understanding of how to conduct a virtual interview! Our instructors and faculty have spent years training the Forensic Experiential Trauma Interview in live training environments. Initially\, we were all very hesitant to take the Practical Application of FETI Course online. However\, after many online cohorts we now realize the opportunities for learning the FETI Methodology expanded in a wonderful way in the virtual training environment. \n35 Hours \n\nLive Classroom Instruction: 17 hours\nLive Interview Sessions: 8 hours\nIndependent Review of Interviews and Course Submissions: Estimated 9 hours minimum\nPersonal Experience Interview: 1 hour\n\nThe Practical Application of FETI course takes place over ten consecutive days. However\, you will not be attending live instruction or independently interacting with course materials for all of those ten days. Some attendees will choose to review more interviews than is required by the course in order to enhance their learning. Other attendees will complete the minimum requirements. You have flexibility outside of the required submissions and live sessions to do what works best for you as a learner and for the time you have available. \nOver the ten days you are required to be present for 5 classroom sessions (17 total live classroom hours)\, 4 interview sessions (8 total live hours) and one Personal Experience Interview (1 live hour) for a total of 26 hours you will need to be available online at a specific time. Our faculty conducts hundreds of online interviews each year and they share their lessons learned with each PA FETI cohort.\n\n \n  \nHOW MUCH TIME DOES IT TAKE TO COMPLETE THE ENTIRE COURSE? We estimate it takes a minimum of nine hours to complete the non-live course requirements that are explained in more detail below. \n  \nWHAT TO EXPECT EACH DAY \n  \nPre-Course Requirements:  \nCompletion of Introduction to FETI Course \nCompletion of the Practical Application of FETI Pre-Course Evaluation \nCompletion of the Practical Application of FETI Pre-Course Questionnaire \nCompletion of the “Helpful Information Before You Begin” Section of the online Practical Application of FETI Course \nConfirmation of Access to the Microsoft Teams Certified FETI Course Platform \n  \nDay 1:    5 Total Hours (Required Live Classroom Sessions) \nLive Interaction on Microsoft Teams with Instructors and other Attendees \n\nLive Classroom session #1 (3 hours) starting at 9:00 am PST / 10:00 MST / 11:00 am CST / 12:00 pm EST\nLive Interview session #1 (2 hours) starting at 1:00 pm PST / 2:00 pm MST / 3:00 pm CST / 4:00 pm EST\n\n  \nDay 2:   Estimated 1 Hour (Required Online Submission by 5:00 pm PST / 6:00 pm MST / 7:00 pm CST / 8:00 pm EST) \nIndependent Review of Interviews on Microsoft Teams Conducted on Day 1 and Completion of Questions \n\nIndependent review within Microsoft Teams of the interviews you participated in on day 1 (4 total; 2 as an interviewer and 2 as a participant). SUMMARY:Cohort #PA-080921
\n35 Hours \n\nLive Classroom Instruction: 17 hours\nLive Interview Sessions: 8 hours\nIndependent Review of Interviews and Course Submissions: Estimated 9 hours minimum\nPersonal Experience Interview: 1 hour\n\nThe Practical Application of FETI course takes place over ten consecutive days. SUMMARY:Cohort #PA-051721
SUMMARY:Cohort #PA-032221
